UAE Allows Direct Flights from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uganda

Happy news for UAE resident visa holders stranded at various countries including India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uganda. National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) UAE allowed direct flights from above nations and UAE is open to travel from 5th August 2021 for resident visa holders who have got 2 doses of vaccines from UAE 14 days before travel date.


Also note that

  •  a) passengers who are returning to Dubai should get permission and prior approval from GDRFA and passengers returning to other emirates in UAE should get the approval from ICA

  • b) all should present a negative PCR test taken 48 hours prior to departure.

Flights to UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, RAK and Sharjah) are open for booking from 5 th August 2021

onwards.



Many have asked doubts regarding the travel to UAE especially from India, and let us move to some important questions and their answers…

Who all are eligible for returning to UAE now?

Valid UAE Resident visa holders who have taken 2 doses of vaccines ( 14 days before travel date) from UAE are eligible to travel to UAE from India and other mentioned countries from 5 th August 2021.

People who have taken vaccines outside UAE, whose visa is expired, who are staying 6 months outside UAE continuously now are not eligible to board the flight to UAE from these countries.

Golden visa, Silver visa, partnership visa and investor visa holders are allowed to travel even before the current announcement.


Which all vaccines are allowed for getting travel permission to UAE?


Currently passengers who have taken 2 doses of vaccines namely Sinopharm , Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca- from UAE ( 14 days prior to travel date) are allowed to travel.

Also note:

1) Passengers who have taken 1 dose of above vaccine from UAE and other from another countries are not allowed

2) Passengers who have taken Indian version of AstraZeneca vaccine -Covishield from India are currently not allowed to travel

3) Passengers who have taken both doses of Sinopharm / Pfizer-BioNTech/ Sputnik V /Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines outside UAE are also not allowed to travel currently.

4) Children travelling to UAE along with parents are exempted from above restrictions and can travel without any vaccination.

Who are allowed for travelling to UAE without vaccination?

The UAE government is currently allowing unvaccinated people in certain job categories to seek special permission for travelling to UAE now.

The categories include

* Medical workers, teachers at schools and universities in UAE, students, residents with extenuating circumstances, people undergoing medical treatment in the UAE and people who work for federal or local government agencies.

As mentioned earlier, children travelling with parents can also accompany them without vaccination.


Do Passengers need any PCR test certificate?

  • All passengers travelling with above mentioned vaccine & visa criteria’s must carry
  •  Negative Result of RT-PCR Test taken 48 hours before ( Sample taken) departure time
  •  Negative Result of Rapid PCR Test taken within 4 hours from boarding airport

    Please note that
  •  The Negative certificate carried should have a valid QR code
  •  All passengers will be tested again at UAE arrival airport again.

How to Apply for UAE entry permission?



All passengers fulfilling the above mentioned visa and vaccination norms should apply separately for entry permission online with UAE authorities.
    

Passengers with valid visa from Dubai authorities should apply with General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs ( GDRFA) - entity that regulates the entry and exit of international travellers from Dubai as well as the residency of foreign nationals in the city.

1. Note: Filling GDFRA basically requires- Passport, visa, Emirates ID, travelling origin & destination airport ( DXB) & email ID.

Is transit passengers allowed through UAE?

As many flights from India and other nations to US/ UK/ Europe travel via UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah) transit, many passengers ask the same question.

UAE authorities allowed all passengers from India and other mentioned nations to take transit via UAE airports with following simple conditions:

  • Should carry Negative Result of RT-PCR Test taken 72 hours before ( Sample taken) departure time
  • Should carry Negative Result of Rapid PCR Test taken within 4 hours from boarding airport
  • Should fulfill all the mandatory norms of the final arrival nation.
  • Vaccination policy should be as per final destination country.
  • Kindly note that if the above conditions are not fulfilled, UAE authorities will return the passengers.

No visit visa or even expired visa passengers are allowed to take UAE flights from above nations.





What are the Quarantine Rules in UAE for passengers arriving from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uganda?

All passengers on arrival at UAE airports are done PCR tests. After getting negative results, passengers can move out of the airport.

Passengers arriving at Dubai & Sharjah airport and staying in these emirates do not have any specific quarantine once tested negative in PCR test done at airport.

However, passengers arriving at Abu Dhabi or RAK airport will be given a Wrist band (for monitoring purpose) while going out of airport after getting negative in PCR test and they will have to follow strict home quarantine for 10 days.


Steps to be taken before travelling to UAE from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria, Uganda:

  1.  Check the visa status ( only valid resident visa holders can travel)

  2.  Assure with records that both doses of mentioned vaccines are taken from UAE 14 days prior to travel date
    Note: For both 1; 2, certain categories like medical professionals, students, etc.. are exempted.

  3.  Take RT- PCR negative certificate with QR code taken with in 48 hours of travel time.

  4.  Apply with GDFRA ( Dubai visa holders) / ICA ( other emirates visa holders) and get prior approval

  5.  Take all print copies of Vaccination & RT- PCR negative certificate with QR code

  6.  Take Rapid test at airport within 4 hours of travel.


Steps to be taken by passengers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria, Uganda after reaching UAE:

  1.  Keep printed copies of Negative RT- PCR & vaccinated certificates ready for verification.

  2. Take PCR test at UAE airport on arrival.

  3.  Download UAE health ministry app – ALHOSN UAE and register in it.

  4.  Strictly adhere to quarantine ( if any) as instructed by airport officer depending on arrival airport.
